I finally finished piecing the summer star quilt blocks, now I need to decide on a border. I've tried a pieced border but it's looking a bit too busy. I think that I will have to add a plain strip in between the pieced blocks. Only problem is that I have used up most of my yellow fabric...

I love all those yellows together!!! I've been hoarding yellows to make a yellow quilt one day. Your's really does look like sunshine! Your border idea sound great. I'm sure you'll find more yellow fabric.
It looks wonderful! If your inner border is narrow, you could use an orange or pink to break from the pieced border.
I wouldn't use a yellow for the inner smaller border anyway. I think you really need a bit of contrast there. I often use the same fabric as I then use for the binding. But otherwise it's looking fantastic. Well done!
